When you form a Wyoming LLC, one of the required pieces is a registered agent. If you've seen that term and wondered what it means — or why it matters for keeping your information private — this post is for you.

What a Registered Agent Is

A registered agent is a person or company designated to receive official legal documents on behalf of your LLC. This includes things like service of process (if your LLC is sued), notices from the state, and tax correspondence.

Every LLC in every U.S. state is required to have a registered agent with a physical address in the state where the LLC is formed.

Why This Matters for Privacy

Here is the key point: your registered agent's address is what appears in your LLC's public filing with the Wyoming Secretary of State — not your home address.

If your registered agent is a professional service — a company that provides this service for a fee — their business address is what's on file publicly. Your personal address is not required to appear anywhere in the public record.

This is one of the layers that makes Wyoming LLCs particularly effective for privacy. Wyoming requires the registered agent's information; it does not require member names or personal addresses to be listed in public filings.

What a Registered Agent Does Not Do

A registered agent is not your lawyer, your accountant, or your business advisor. They receive documents and forward them to you. That's the role. Important legal or tax correspondence that arrives via your registered agent still needs your attention — it doesn't disappear because someone else received it first.

How Safe Haven Title Handles This

As part of the LLC formation process, we set up a registered agent for your Wyoming LLC using a professional service. You don't have to find one yourself, vet them, or figure out how to list them in your filing. It's included.

The address that appears in Wyoming's public database is the registered agent's address. Your home address — the one you're working to protect — is not part of the public record.

That's not an accident. It's the design.
